ThemeLandscapes & Nature

Belgrano and Iguazú return in a cleaner undated layout from which the earlier authorizing-law citation has been deliberately removed.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

A violet portrait of Manuel Belgrano stands beside olive branches, Spanish inscriptions and bold denomination figures. The central face is notably cleaner because the authorizing-law citation used on the preceding type is absent below the value. An open watermark area and intricate guilloche retain the established visual structure of the series.

Reverse

Iguazú Falls sweeps across the reverse in layered violet engraving, accompanied by olive branches and the Argentine national emblem. Water, escarpment and forest are compressed into a broad panoramic vignette. The scene is unchanged from the related earlier ten-peso issue, placing the main attribution work on the face and signatures.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the missing legal citation below the central denomination is the quickest design-level distinction from the preceding ten-peso type. Enrique José Porta and Eduardo Andrés Zalduendo form the only recorded signature pair, used on Series D and E. Its 1976 introduction places this compact variety at the opening of Argentina's renewed inflationary escalation.
