ThemeMilitary & Historical Events

María Remedios del Valle and Manuel Belgrano share a blue-green portrait before mounted soldiers pledge allegiance to Argentina's flag.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Flowers frame paired portraits of María Remedios del Valle and Manuel Belgrano, with a colour-shifting sunburst and registration value integrated into the blue-green field. Their likenesses return together in the watermark beside the initials MV and MB. The unusual double portrait gives equal visual weight to two figures linked to independence.

Reverse

Mounted soldiers pledge allegiance to the flag on 27 February 1812, arranged in a broad historical scene beneath Spanish inscriptions. Horses, uniforms and raised standards carry the composition across the reverse, while the Argentine national emblem anchors the field. The event extends Belgrano's portrait into a specific founding episode.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, regular Series A–I notes were printed in China, while Series J–M came from Crane Currency Malta; this listing intentionally groups both printer runs under one design. The D, H and J series in the available stock therefore belong together here, but the first letter still records which production group supplied an individual note.
