San Martín's olive-green portrait leads to the mountain hotel at Termas de Reyes, combining national leadership with a distinctive Jujuy landmark.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

José de San Martín appears in olive-green engraving between oak and olive branches, Spanish text and broad value devices. Coloured fibres are embedded in the paper of this variety, adding subtle points across the open fields. The general's formal portrait remains the visual anchor, supported by tightly controlled ornamental borders.

Reverse

The hotel at Las Termas de Reyes in Jujuy occupies the reverse beneath mountain slopes, accompanied by Spanish lettering and the Argentine national emblem. Its long facade and surrounding terrain create a rare resort-landscape subject within the series. Olive-green linework unifies architecture and setting without flattening their depth.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, coloured fibres and the Alberto Jacinto Camps–Adolfo César Diz signature pair identify this later intaglio form, recorded for Series B and C. A closely related 1977 variety lacks the fibres, while earlier printings carry different signatures or printing methods. Examining the paper itself is therefore as important as reading the serial series.
