A terracotta horse rider faces the Bangladesh National Museum on a centenary issue devoted to objects, memory and public display.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
An eighteenth-century terracotta plaque depicting a horse rider dominates the violet, yellow and green face. Bengali and English inscriptions and the Bangladesh Bank emblem sit around the historic object without crowding it. A holographic windowed thread crosses the paper, while the watermark combines Mujibur Rahman with the bank emblem and value.
Reverse
The Bangladesh National Museum in Dhaka appears behind trees and a fountain, its modern institutional facade extending across the reverse. Bilingual text identifies the centenary, and open space around the building keeps the architecture legible. The pairing moves from a single museum object to the institution responsible for preserving it.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the issue commemorates the museum's 1913–2013 centenary and was introduced on 9 July 2013. Atiur Rahman's signature, prefix সজ and a recorded issue of 100,000 notes define the circulation release. A smaller portion was also sold in presentation sleeves, creating a separate numismatic-product context without changing the note itself.
