Mujibur Rahman's blue portrait and the National Martyrs' Monument lead to the richly ornamented Star Mosque of Dhaka.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman appears beside the National Martyrs' Monument at Savar within a deep blue bilingual design. Denomination figures and Bangladesh Bank text occupy the surrounding geometric guilloche field. His portrait returns on a pixelated watermark background, accompanied by the bank emblem and electrotype 100.

Reverse

Dhaka's Star Mosque fills the reverse with domes, minarets and its distinctive decorated surfaces. Bengali and English inscriptions remain secondary to the architecture, while the Bangladesh Bank emblem balances the open field. Blue tonal layers give the mosque both depth and a clear visual connection to Mujibur's portrait.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2023 printing is the Abdur Rouf Talukder signature stage of a design issued across many dates and thread variations. Its prefix identifies the production sequence, while the governor's name provides the clearest practical check. The familiar artwork should not be used alone to assign a year or catalogue variety.
