ThemeMilitary & Historical Events

Mujibur Rahman and the Savar memorial face Dhaka's Shaheed Minar on a small treasury note marking forty years of independence.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman appears beside the National Martyrs' Monument at Savar and Bangladesh's national emblem of shapla, rice and jute. Orange and green engraving keeps the three symbols distinct within the compact format. Bengali text and value figures frame the face, with Mujibur returning in the watermark beside an electrotype 2.

Reverse

Dhaka's Shaheed Minar, memorial to the Language Movement, rises among flowers and Bengali inscriptions. Its repeated vertical forms create a strong architectural rhythm across the narrow reverse. The monument expands the independence anniversary theme beyond 1971 by recalling the linguistic struggle that preceded the country's creation.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this two-taka treasury issue entered circulation on 11 August 2011 for the fortieth anniversary of independence. Mohammed Tareq's signature and prefixes কক to কহ identify the first dated form. As a government-issued note rather than a Bangladesh Bank denomination, it occupies a distinct institutional place within the modern taka series.
