Mujibur Rahman and the Savar memorial face Zainul Abedin's scene of ploughing in an orange-brown portrait of labour and nationhood.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman appears beside the National Martyrs' Monument at Savar within orange and brown fields. Bengali and English inscriptions frame the face, and a two-millimetre windowed thread carries demetallized bank emblems and 50s. The watermark combines Mujibur's portrait with the bank logo and electrotype value.

Reverse

Zainul Abedin's painting Ploughing spreads across the reverse, placing agricultural labour at the centre of the denomination. Figures and working animals create a low horizontal movement beneath bilingual text, while the Bangladesh Bank emblem balances the scene. The earthy palette suits the subject and distinguishes the revised colour scheme from earlier red-brown printings.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this 2022 form carries Abdur Rouf Talukder's signature and Bengali prefix ঘঞ. It belongs to the orange-brown colour revision introduced in 2019 to improve denomination recognition. The changed palette is immediately visible, while the governor and prefix separate it from the otherwise similar 2019, 2021 and later dated issues.
