A vast flag-bearing march advances toward the National Martyrs' Monument before the reverse settles at Bangladesh's Supreme Court.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Shapla flowers accompany a large crowd marching with the national flag toward the National Martyrs' Monument at Savar. Brown, blue, red, green and yellow layers give the public scene unusual depth across the broad format. Bengali text and strong value devices frame the movement without reducing its commemorative force.
Reverse
The Supreme Court building in Dhaka stands beneath Bengali and English inscriptions, joined by the Bangladesh Bank emblem and further shapla flowers. Its long classical facade creates a measured institutional counterweight to the crowded face. Repeated floral forms connect civic law, national memory and the note's official identity.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this undated issue was introduced on 2 July 1998 with Lutfar Rahman Sarkar's signature and the recorded Bengali prefix range from ঙঘ to চগ. It immediately precedes Bangladesh's adoption of printed dates on regular notes in 2000, giving it a clear chronological place despite the absence of a year on the paper.
