The light-blue 1,000 Roubles pairs the National Museum of Arts in Minsk with a detail from an Ivan Khrutsky painting.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Belarusian text and the National Museum of Arts building in Minsk. The landmark supplies the visual structure of the side, with denomination and lettering fitted carefully into the remaining space. The use of light blue creates a consistent ground for the illustration, official text and value figures.
Reverse
Belarusian text and a detail from “Portrait of the wife with flowers and fruits” by Ivan Khrutsky. Typography and value numerals occupy the remaining field in a supporting role, preserving the portrait as the dominant element. The light blue palette provides continuity between the illustration, typography and value numerals.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-28b is the later windowed-thread variety of the 1,000-Rouble type, introduced on 15 March 2011. The 2 mm windowed thread separates it from the two earlier solid-thread P-28a subvarieties while the museum-and-painting design remains unchanged.
