Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Belarusian text, the Holmsky Gate of Brest Fortress and a tapestry motif. The formal banknote elements are integrated around the vignette while preserving a clear reading order. The printed field uses red to bind the central imagery to the monetary text around it.
Reverse
Belarusian text and the star-shaped entrance to Brest Fortress. The composition gives the landmark room to read as architecture, while inscriptions and numerals complete the formal banknote field. The design preserves a useful distinction between narrative imagery and the note’s functional monetary information.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-25b/B134a was introduced on 29 December 2010 after new Belarusian orthography changed the written form of “fifty” from ПЯЦЬДЗЕСЯТ to ПЯЦЬДЗЯСЯТ. The revised note keeps the earlier images, colours and size but has no security thread, providing a second clear distinction from P-25a.
