Green zeros and a circular Sarajevo handstamp interrupt the guilloche front, while Stari Most over the Neretva River remains the dominant reverse image.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The P-10 guilloche front is modified with short green zeros and a circular SARAJEVO handstamp dated 15.10.1993. Across the side, purple, red, and yellow tones connect the subject with the denomination and institutional inscriptions. Formal Croatian lettering and value indicators occupy the areas around the principal image.

Reverse

The original P-10 reverse remains unchanged, showing Stari Most over the Neretva River in Mostar with bilingual inscriptions. Official text is absorbed into the composition without displacing the terrain, vegetation or water that defines the view. Colour is led by purple, red, and yellow, extending from the main motif through the surrounding printed detail.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-53e is the Sarajevo, 15 October 1993, short-green-zero variety listed by Pick. The underlying P-10 note is an official circulation banknote; the disputed element is the added Sarajevo handstamp and denomination overprint, which The Banknote Book does not accept as an official B135 variety.
