ThemeCultural Heritage

The 50 Dinara of 1992 returns to the Stari Most motif, pairing the Mostar landmark with the bilingual guilloche design of the first regular Bosnian dinar series.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Black and red guilloches frame the 50-Dinara denomination, Serbo-Croatian text in Cyrillic and Roman scripts and Stiepo Andrijić’s signature. The surrounding monetary text supports the principal motifs without crowding the composition or weakening their legibility. The black and red palette provides continuity between the illustration, typography and value numerals.

Reverse

Stari Most over the Neretva River in Mostar is shown within a circular vignette, surrounded by guilloche ornament and bilingual inscriptions. The natural setting remains expansive despite the surrounding denomination figures and institutional inscriptions. Tones of black and red unify the pictorial subject, lettering and repeated indicators of value.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-12 continues the alternating bridge-and-heraldry structure of the 1992 issue. Its technical specification matches P-10 and P-11, so denomination, colour scheme and reverse subject provide the clearest visual separation within this closely related group.
