ThemePortraits & People

The 50,000 Dinara of 1993 belongs to Republika Srpska’s second dinar system, pairing writer Petar Kočić with the Serbian coat of arms.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Serbian text in Cyrillic and a portrait of writer Petar Kočić, with denomination and ornamental security patterns. The surrounding typography is restrained enough for the principal subject to remain immediately identifiable. The use of violet and orange creates a consistent ground for the illustration, official text and value figures.

Reverse

Croatian text, the Serbian coat of arms, denomination and serial number appear over ornamental geometric patterns. The composition relies on the emblem’s strong silhouette, with lettering and value indicators organised around it. A violet and orange palette carries from the principal motif into the surrounding typography and value markings.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-153 belongs to the second Republika Srpska dinar introduced after the 1 October 1993 revaluation of 1,000,000 old dinars to one new dinar. The A-prefix form is regular B206a; TBB separately records prefix Z replacements and no-serial-number remainders.
