Angelfish pass through sea-blue ornament before the reverse lifts the view from the water to Cayman Brac's pale bluff.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Elizabeth II's portrait shares the front with angelfish, the Cayman Islands arms and a small map. The fish supply the most fluid shapes in a composition otherwise organised by portrait and denomination panels. Blue and violet printing connects them to the surrounding pattern, giving the lowest banknote value a clearly marine setting without losing its formal royal portrait.
Reverse
The Bluff on Cayman Brac becomes the principal landmark, accompanied by a nautilus shell. The shell's curved chambers sit against the larger mass of the coastal rock, bringing a small marine object into the same view as the island's terrain. After the front's portrait and fish, this side lets a specific place carry the note's local character.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2024 issue continues the Elizabeth II portrait while changing the signatures to Scotland / O'Connor-Connolly. Scotland's printed office is now Chief Executive Officer, replacing the earlier Managing Director wording. The changed office title distinguishes this printing even before its date is read, a small but diagnostic detail within the otherwise familiar Series D design.
