Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Artist Débora Arango stands beside a detail from La bailarina Guillermina and a bird derived from her painting Las Monjas y El Cardenal. Lechoso leaves and fruit carry a copper-to-green colour shift, while a tactile symbol marks the denomination. The watermark repeats Arango with an electrotype 2.

Reverse

Caño Cristales flows through the Sierra de la Macarena beneath birds and dense natural pattern. Text adapted from an interview with Arango links the landscape back to the artist, while the Liberty-head bank seal closes the composition. A fuchsia-to-green windowed thread bears demetalized BRC lettering and bird motifs.

For collectors, this first variety is dated 19 August 2015 and was introduced on 29 November 2016. José Darío Uribe Escobar and José Tolosa Buitrago signed the AA-AD prefix issue. The early serial range, original signature pair and colour-shifting botanical feature provide three independent checks within Colombia's redesigned banknote family.
