A busy produce market gathers below a domed mausoleum, with soft green printing carrying the scene into the homes of Mohéli.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Shoppers and produce fill the foreground beneath the mausoleum of President Ahmed Abdallah Abdérémane in Domoni. The building's dome and minarets give the upper scene a firm silhouette, while the smaller figures keep the market visibly active. The juxtaposition holds public remembrance and daily exchange on the same face, without replacing either with a portrait of the president.
Reverse
Thatched and clay huts on Mohéli move the subject away from Domoni's monumental architecture. Palm trees and the irregular outlines of the dwellings give this face a more dispersed rhythm. A poem by Mab Elhad remains part of the printed design, continuing the series' use of Comorian writing alongside places where people live and conduct their everyday work.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-17(3) is the Imani / Rioux stage with a seven-digit serial and varnished paper, still carrying the printed date 2005. The same signature pair appears on the EverFit thousand-franc note. Together, the two denominations show different durability treatments within a continuing design family.
