Blue-black and dark brown return Knin's fortress to a three-digit scale after Serbian Krajina removed another nine zeros in 1994.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Knin's hilltop fortress appears in blue-black and dark brown beneath Serbian Cyrillic inscriptions and a newly compact 1,000-dinara value. The familiar architecture anchors the visual continuity across the sweeping redenomination. A Greek-key watermark runs through the paper, and the design again omits a security thread.

Reverse

The stylized vase is paired with Croatian text and the Serbian state emblem, closely following the format of the 1993 inflation notes. Dark brown engraving gives the vessel and border greater weight than before. The smaller numerical value is the clearest visible consequence of the currency reform rather than a redesigned reverse.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this A-prefix 1,000-dinara issue belongs to the 1994 reform that removed nine zeros on 1 January, setting one new dinar equal to one billion of the 1993 dinars. Pavao Marjanović remained the signatory. The unchanged imagery creates a direct visual bridge across one of the series' most extreme redenominations.
