Céspedes faces a monumental Martí on Havana's Malecón, joining the origins of independence to a later arena of political memory.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Carlos Manuel de Céspedes appears in a reddish-brown portrait beside the Central Bank of Cuba logo and large hundred-peso values. Yellow underprint softens the dense engraved frame. The paper carries a solid thread with demetallized PATRIA O MUERTE, while Céspedes returns in the watermark beside an electrotype 100.

Reverse

The statue of José Martí at Havana's Anti-Imperialist Tribune rises against the Malecón setting, shifting the design from intimate portrait to public monument. Spanish inscriptions identify the site, and repeated values anchor the broad open field. The pairing draws two distinct periods of Cuban political history into a single denomination.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2024 printing marks a production change to Goznak and introduces a serif serial-number font. Juana Lilia Delgado Portal signs the issue, recorded with AQA-1 to AQA-28 series markings. Those concrete features distinguish it from earlier hundred-peso printings more reliably than the long-established Céspedes and Martí artwork, which remains visually familiar.
