Brown and blue linework radiates from a compact bank seal, giving the twenty-peso Series D certificate a cool, controlled intensity.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
A large D and the Banco Nacional de Cuba seal dominate the face within light brown, dark brown and blue engraving. The zigzag underprint spreads from the centre, binding the denomination to the Spanish institutional text. The paper was produced without a security thread or watermark, leaving printed geometry as the principal security language.
Reverse
Twenty-peso values at the centre and corners surround Spanish usage conditions and spaces for the payee's signature and issue date. The arrangement is spare enough for handwritten or stamped completion to remain prominent. Administrative function, not pictorial storytelling, determines the reverse's open layout and repeated numerical hierarchy.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the FA prefix locates this certificate within Cuba's 1991 second Series D production. Its blue accents distinguish the twenty-peso denomination from the brown-green one-peso companion, while the large D, zigzag ground and domestic printer unite the group. Restricted validity and non-transferability give these certificates a collecting context separate from regular peso banknotes.
