A grey angelfish crosses a yellow field before the note turns upright around the lighthouse on Klein Curaçao.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The grey angelfish is presented in profile, its broad body and extended fins filling much of the horizontal face. A queen conch accompanies the denomination in colour-changing ink. The shell's compact spiral contrasts with the fish's broad outline, bringing two marine forms into the new currency's lowest banknote value.

Reverse

Rotating the note brings Klein Curaçao's lighthouse into an upright view. The shift in orientation gives the tall structure space to rise above its low island setting. After the close view of a fish, the reverse opens to a navigational landmark, connecting the underwater subject with a building made to be seen by people approaching across the sea.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this is the lowest banknote denomination in the first Caribbean-guilder family, introduced on 31 March 2025 for Curaçao and Sint Maarten. Ten remains part of the denomination set inherited from the Netherlands Antillean guilder. Placing the predecessor and successor together shows continuity in value alongside a complete change of marine imagery and orientation.
