Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The mosque and mausoleum of Sultan Qaytbay anchors the right side with a finely engraved dome, minaret and Mamluk facade. Arabic inscriptions and denomination devices cross the warm brown field, balanced by an open watermark reserve. The windowed Motion thread places the familiar architecture within the enhanced-security production used from 2016 onward.

Reverse

Four seated figures of Ramesses II at Abu Simbel create a monumental centre, joined by royal cartouches and decorative motifs associated with Luxor. The name of Nefertari appears alongside that of Ramesses II, extending the scene beyond a single monument. English text and repeated values frame the archaeological imagery in restrained green-brown ornament.
