Blue, orange and green recast the Sphinx, Giza pyramids and Muhammad Ali Mosque for Egypt's final listed ten-piastre paper issue.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
The Great Sphinx and pyramids of Giza occupy the principal panel in blue, orange and green. Arabic state text, the denomination and serial number surround the monuments, while a Tutankhamun-mask watermark fills the open reserve. The altered palette differentiates the issue without changing the familiar pharaonic composition.
Reverse
The Muhammad Ali Pasha Mosque at Cairo's Citadel appears beneath English text naming the Arab Republic of Egypt. Its large central dome, subsidiary domes and slender minarets form a calm skyline within dense border ornament. Repeated values and guilloche complete a reverse that moves from ancient Giza to nineteenth-century religious architecture.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the blue, orange and green revision closes the sequence of regular Egyptian ten-piastre paper notes listed in the supplied catalog. Its altered palette gives collectors a visually direct endpoint to the revived piastre series that began in 1998. It links colour variation with the unusual return of low-value paper money.
