Egypt's first polymer denomination places a new capital mosque against a reverse crowded with pharaonic signs and monuments.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The exterior of Al-Fattah Al-Alim Mosque in Egypt's New Administrative Capital fills the warm violet and orange face. Arabic text, a stylized reed registration device and an Eye of Horus surround the building, while transparent polymer windows become part of the architecture. The composition presents a contemporary state project through the language of a circulating note.

Reverse

A winged sun disc with snakes, pyramids, a boat and a statue of Hatshepsut form the ancient Egyptian counterpoint. English text and another stylized reed integrate the images across the polymer field. Transparent elements and pale areas keep the many archaeological references legible rather than allowing them to collapse into ornament.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this variety belongs to the first generation of Egypt's circulating ten-pound polymer series and carries Tarek Hassan Amer's signature. It occupies the middle production stage between the initial Guardian issue and the later Hassan Abdalla variety, making signature progression the clearest collecting narrative. It gives the polymer series a sequence of production and governorship changes.
