The Sayyeda Aisha Mosque is balanced by wheat, cotton and maize gathered around Egypt's eagle, linking faith, land and state.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Sayyeda Aisha Mosque in Cairo forms the principal image in cool purple, green and blue. Its dome and minaret rise beside Arabic lettering, repeated values and the serial number, while the watermark area remains deliberately open. The restrained palette gives the modest denomination an unexpectedly spacious architectural character.

Reverse

The Eagle of Salah El Din coat of arms stands at the centre, flanked by wheat stalks, cotton bolls and an ear of maize. These agricultural emblems create a symmetrical frame around the national symbol, with English bank text and the denomination arranged above and below. The reverse moves from an urban mosque to the productive landscape in emblematic form.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this note is dated 2 December 1999, three days before the latest listed date for the variety, 5 December 1999. That proximity makes it a useful late-date example within the long-running twenty-five-piastre design. Its collector context is chronological and does not imply a separately documented issue or production-closing event.
