Violet-blue engraving pairs Sayyeda Aisha Mosque with Egypt’s eagle, framed by wheat, cotton and maize on the reverse.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The dome and minaret of Sayyeda Aisha Mosque define the face, surrounded by Arabic bank text and fine purple, green and blue security engraving. Repeated denominations sit at the borders, and the open watermark reserve breaks the dense geometry. The result is architectural but intimate, suited to the low-value twenty-five-piastre format.

Reverse

Egypt's Eagle of Salah El Din is encircled by wheat, cotton and maize, turning the coat of arms into the centre of an agricultural arrangement. English text and value figures follow the outer frame, while blue-green guilloche holds the natural forms together. The design gives crops and state symbolism equal visual weight.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this 2006 issue captures the final production phase before the Tutankhamun watermark moved to a smaller format. That transition gives it a natural place beside the 2008 P-57h notes, where a familiar design becomes a compact study in variety development. It marks change through production history rather than new artwork.
