Cool engraving joins Sayyeda Aisha Mosque with Egypt’s eagle and field crops on this late-dated twenty-five-piastre note.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The dome and single minaret of Sayyeda Aisha Mosque occupy the right half, drawn in purple and blue against green ornamental fields. Arabic text and denominations gather around the building, while the watermark space remains pale and uncluttered. The asymmetry makes the architecture feel more prominent than the note's modest value might suggest.

Reverse

The Eagle of Salah El Din occupies the centre between wheat stalks, cotton bolls and maize. The crops form a balanced frame rather than a natural landscape, placing agriculture directly within the heraldic vocabulary of the state. English bank text, corner values and interlaced guilloche complete the design in measured symmetry.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, 28 December 2008 is the latest listed date for this variety. Together with the July example, it forms a concise two-date study of the same design rather than a duplicate purchase. The date provides the defining distinction, without implying that the catalogue endpoint proves the close of production or circulation.
