Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Spanish issuer text surrounds the national coat of arms and Lempira wearing a headband, with the denomination integrated into the red-and-green design.
Reverse
The reverse depicts the ball court and stairway ruins at Copán together with a Mayan monolith.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-68c is the 1989 security upgrade of the 1 Lempira type. It is the first dated variety in this sequence with a solid BANTRAL thread; Sig. 18 and BP–BR prefixes distinguish it from the threadless 1980 and 1984 issues.
