Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Lempira wearing a headband appears with the Honduran coat of arms and reengraved guilloches, retaining the established red-and-green layout.
Reverse
Copán’s ball-court and stairway ruins appear with a Mayan monolith; the rectangular design at lower right differs from the preceding B321 type.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-71 marks a genuine production transition rather than a simple new date. Canadian Bank Note Company replaced De La Rue, the front guilloches were reengraved, and the lower-right reverse element was changed while the BANTRAL thread and core design were retained.
