The 2010 1 Lempira closes the pre-tactile generation of the long-running Lempira-and-Copán design before the denomination was updated again in the 2012 series.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
The familiar red-and-green front retains Lempira wearing a headband beside the Honduran coat of arms and the central denomination.
Reverse
Copán’s ball-court and stairway ruins appear with a Mayan monolith and the lower-right latent-image panel characteristic of the B324 generation.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-89b is the 6 May 2010 final issue of this pre-tactile 1 Lempira design, with Sig. 30 and EC–EL prefixes under Oberthur production. The denomination was updated in the 2012 series with tactile identification features.
