Marco Aurelio Soto and the Amapala coastal panorama remain unchanged in the 2019 2 Lempiras, but the issue returns to Oberthur production after the 2016 Polish printing.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Marco Aurelio Soto appears beside the Honduran coat of arms, with tactile Braille dots and raised vertical bars integrated into the purple denomination design.
Reverse
Tiger Island and the port city of Amapala stretch across the reverse, recalling the place where Soto’s government was inaugurated.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2019 P-97 returned the 2 Lempiras to Oberthur Fiduciaire after the 2016 Polish Security Printing Works issue. Sig. 34 and AL–AM prefixes distinguish it; the Soto and Amapala design did not change.
