Design & Symbolism

Obverse

A denomination registration device and Farsi inscriptions accompany Khomeini on the obverse. The portrait remains the dominant element, with the surrounding features serving a largely structural role. A blue and green palette carries from the principal motif into the surrounding typography and value markings.

Reverse

The reverse turns to Aghazadeh Mansion in Abarkooh, where its windcatchers provide the principal architectural subject. English and Farsi inscriptions and the matching denomination device frame the distinctive tower forms. A blue and green scheme keeps the separate pictorial and monetary elements within a single visual field.
