ThemeWildlife

A fingertip meets a tablet screen above orange circuitry, while two hippopotamuses stand close together in the reverse's grassy setting.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

A hand touching an electronic tablet establishes the face's subject of digital communication. Circuit patterns and an African outline spread behind it, beside the BCEAO's stylised sawfish emblem. Orange and brown engraving combines the recognisable screen and finger with a network of fine electronic lines.

Reverse

Two hippopotamuses stand close together in grassland, their rounded bodies filling much of the illustrated panel. Short stems surround their legs, while the heads and backs are heavily shaded. The wildlife scene contrasts with the tablet and circuits on the face; the pale watermark margin remains separate at one side.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, A identifies Côte d'Ivoire and the opening serial digits 26 establish the 2026 issue. This example carries Jean-Claude Brou and Adama Coulibaly's signatures. Because the BCEAO artwork is shared across several countries, the letter and date are essential to a country-year collection; the hippopotamus scene alone cannot identify an Ivorian issue.
