ThemeNational Symbols

Dark red ornament encloses the ten-tiyn value before the national emblem settles across the reverse with compact post-Soviet authority.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The denomination is placed within an ornate circular frame, surrounded by Kazakh inscriptions and a dark red, pink and yellow security ground. Without portraiture, architecture or landscape, the composition relies on number, script and interlaced linework. A snowflake-pattern watermark lies within paper produced without a security thread.

Reverse

The national emblem forms the principal image, framed by Kazakh text and repeated ten-tiyn values. Its rounded silhouette answers the circular value device on the front, keeping the two sides visually connected. Restrained guilloche fills the compact field without competing with the new republic's central symbol.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this ten-tiyn note comes from Kazakhstan's first national-currency release on 15 November 1993. Paper tiyn were an interim solution before low denominations moved to coinage, so the issue records the practical urgency of the currency launch. Its snowflake watermark, unsigned face and threadless paper identify the catalogued form without relying on pictorial differences.
