ThemeGovernment

Astana's monuments rise through a vertical field before ministries, bridge and steppe unfold across a map-shaped national panorama.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The vertical face gathers the Astana-Baiterek monument, sheet music, national emblem, palm and flag into an orange-green ascent. Each symbol occupies a distinct level rather than a conventional portrait frame. Solid and windowed security threads pass through the composition, while a snow leopard, electrotype 200 and deer form the watermark group.

Reverse

Government buildings for transport, communications and defence stand beside a winged statue on a bridge over the Ishim River. Steppe scenery and an outline map of Kazakhstan expand the view beyond Astana. The horizontal back answers the upright face with a broad civic landscape concerned with capital, territory and modern state building.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2006 issue belongs to Kazakhstan's major shift toward vertically composed banknotes and entered circulation on 15 November that year. Anvar Saidenov's signature and the extensive AA to IK prefix span identify the production. Its combination of two security threads and a multi-part watermark also records the technical ambition of the redesigned series.
