ThemeNational Symbols

Saiga, doves and Astana's monumental skyline climb a vertical face before river and map settle into the quieter reverse.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Kazakhstan's emblem, a colour-shifting saiga, Khan Shatyr, flying doves, the Kazakh Eli monument, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation and the flag rise through the vertical composition. A broad holographic stripe and purple-to-green StarChrome thread are integrated among the symbols. The Samruk watermark appears beside an electrotype 2000.

Reverse

An outline map of Kazakhstan holds a stylized saiga and the Irtysh River within a broad blue-green field. The open geography contrasts with the dense sequence of capital landmarks on the face. Repeated animal imagery carries the design from civic monument to territory, linking national identity with the steppe species chosen as its living emblem.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2012 date is printed on a no-signature variety that entered circulation in 2020. Prefixes BL to GG identify the recorded production, while the missing signature separates it from the related earlier form. The long interval between printed date and introduction makes catalogue chronology especially important when placing this issue within Kazakhstan's modern series.
