Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Composer Abdylas Maldybaev appears within green, orange and brown engraving, surrounded by Kyrgyz text and compact one-som values. His portrait returns as the watermark. A solid thread printed КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ crosses the paper, integrating the bank's name into a design centred on one of Kyrgyzstan's major musical figures.
Reverse
A komuz and kylkyak stand beside the Kyrgyz State Philharmonic Hall, joining traditional instruments to the institution built for public performance. The arrangement moves from object to architecture without losing the intimate scale of the denomination. Green and brown linework gives the reverse a quieter, more documentary character than the portrait side.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the printed 1999 date precedes the recorded circulation date of 7 February 2000. Ulan Sarbanov's signature and BA to BN prefixes identify the regular production. The note is particularly coherent within music-themed collections because composer, traditional instruments and concert architecture are carried through a single design rather than appearing as isolated motifs.
