Kaysone Phomvihane and Wat That Luang establish the familiar state imagery on the front, while the Vang Vieng cement factory makes the reverse unmistakably industrial. The brown palette keeps the two sides visually cohesive.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Kaysone Phomvihane appears beside Wat That Luang in Vientiane, with Lao inscriptions and the national emblem structured around the portrait and stupa. The front keeps the familiar state imagery clear and formal. A brown scheme keeps the separate pictorial and monetary elements within a single visual field.
Reverse
The Vang Vieng cement factory in Vientiane Province dominates the reverse, with industrial buildings and production facilities forming the principal scene. Lao inscriptions frame the factory without diluting its strong infrastructure focus. Across the side, brown tones connect the subject with the denomination and institutional inscriptions.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this note is dated 2020 but belongs to the refreshed issues introduced later. It retains Kaysone Phomvihane and Wat That Luang while giving the reverse to modern industry, continuing a long-standing Lao pattern of linking state memory with economic development.
