Small and predominantly green, the 1,000-livre note abandons scenic vignettes for alphabetic forms and a clean compact layout, with the cedar reserved for the reverse.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Arabic text and large alphabetic characters form the front rather than a conventional landscape or monument. The restrained green design gives the typography itself the visual role usually occupied by a vignette. The placement of monetary information leaves enough open structure for the main subject to remain visually specific.
Reverse
French text, a cedar tree and further alphabetic characters structure the reverse, with the serial-number bar code integrated into the modern layout. The composition remains deliberately spare. Official inscriptions and denomination figures are distributed around the main imagery, creating a clear hierarchy across the printed field.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this 2004-dated note brought the 1,000-livre denomination into the compact 2004–2008 family, with TBB recording its introduction in 2006. It marks a clear break from the scenic, archaeology-heavy banknotes of earlier decades toward a more standardized graphic identity.
