Red, orange, yellow, blue and green give the 2018 twenty-tögrög more chromatic energy than the smaller ten-tögrög, though both share Sükhbaatar and a pastoral reverse.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Sükhbaatar appears beside the Soyombo symbol and Mongolian inscriptions in a multicolour composition that gives the 20-tögrög denomination more visual energy than the smaller green 10-tögrög note. The printed field uses red, orange, yellow, blue, and green to bind the central imagery to the monetary text around it.
Reverse
Two horses graze among fir trees beneath a broad mountain backdrop. The landscape is calm and spacious, counterbalancing the denser portrait and inscription field on the front. The use of red, orange, yellow, blue, and green creates a consistent ground for the illustration, official text and value figures.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2018 printing sits at the end of the earlier 20-tögrög issue sequence before the denomination was refreshed again in 2020, making it a useful bridge between two generations of an otherwise highly stable design.
