Blue and green engraving turns two mounted riders into a compact vertical study of speed, balance and Mongolia’s equestrian tradition.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Two men on horseback fill the vertical front beneath Mongolian inscriptions and the Soyombo symbol. The narrow format heightens the sense of upward movement and keeps the riders as the unquestioned focal point. The layout balances official lettering with the human subject, preserving both narrative detail and monetary clarity.
Reverse
Mounted riders return on the reverse, framed by Mongolian text. Repeating the equestrian subject across both sides gives traditional horsemanship unusual prominence on such a small denomination. Value figures and official lettering are fitted around the sporting motif without reducing its sense of motion.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this note completes Mongolia’s 1993 möngö trio, in which archery, wrestling and horsemanship each receive their own vertical denomination. Together they form a compact three-note study of traditional Mongolian sport.
