Sükhbaatar sits within a broad brown field on the 2013 fifty-tögrög, with grazing horses and mountains carrying the reverse.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Sükhbaatar is shown in a peaked hat beside the Soyombo symbol and Mongolian inscriptions. The restrained brown palette gives the portrait a warmer and more mature character than the smaller denominations. Typography and value numerals occupy the remaining field in a supporting role, preserving the portrait as the dominant element.
Reverse
Fir trees, mountains and two grazing horses stretch across the reverse, continuing the landscape shared by Mongolia’s lower-value notes. The wider format allows the scene to breathe without adding unnecessary detail. Formal Mongolian lettering and value indicators occupy the areas around the principal image.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2013 printing is a precise variety point within an otherwise stable design: the artwork remains familiar, but a changed serial-number font under Governor Naidansuren Zoljargal distinguishes this issue from its predecessors.
