Pink fields and green-to-gold details frame Chinggis Khaan, a mounted warrior and the banking centenary emblem on the front, while the silver tree fountain and Karakorum courtyard fill the reverse.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Chinggis Khaan is paired with the Soyombo symbol, a mounted warrior and the Modern Banking 100th Anniversary logo. Green-to-gold SPARK elements distinguish the commemorative front from ordinary circulation issues of the same denomination. The use of pink creates a consistent ground for the illustration, official text and value figures.
Reverse
The reverse returns to the silver tree fountain and the courtyard of Karakorum during the reign of Möngke Khan. The historic setting creates a deliberate contrast with the modern institutional anniversary celebrated on the front. A predominantly pink treatment gives the imagery and official lettering a consistent visual register.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2024 issue commemorates a specifically monetary milestone rather than a political anniversary: one hundred years of Mongolia’s modern banking system. That institutional focus gives it a distinct place beside the country’s more history-driven commemorative notes.
