Ouzoud's falling water cuts through green engraving, with an argan branch and falcon bringing smaller natural forms into the foreground.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Mohammed VI's portrait stands beside a Moroccan doorway motif, the national arms and a crown with a five-pointed star. The main arrangement is shared with the violet 20-dirham companion, but this denomination is predominantly green. Yellow and blue underprinting appears within the ornament around the closely engraved portrait.
Reverse
The cascades of Ouzoud descend through the landscape behind an argan tree, fruit and a falcon. The falls occupy the distant view, while the tree and bird are shown closer to the foreground. The separate clusters of argan fruit provide a small botanical detail beside the much broader waterfall scene.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this 50-dirham type makes a particularly useful comparison with its 2023-dated successor. Both remain green and retain Ouzoud imagery, but the later note moves the falls to the front and gives the reverse to energy and water infrastructure. That change separates two design generations more clearly than the unchanged royal portrait or denomination colour.
