Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Everest, the Krishna Temple of Patan and Garuda on a high column remain arranged across the orange-brown front. Nepali inscriptions occupy the central field, a coin obverse closes the upper right and the rhododendron watermark opening interrupts the dense ornament with a pale vertical space.
Reverse
Two swamp deer move together through trees beneath a low mountain ridge, their bodies giving the reverse a wider narrative than the older solitary-deer type. The Nepal Rastra Bank name appears in English above, while the denomination and 2020 A.D. date sit below the landscape.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-78 dated 2020 is an unusually clear printer-transition piece: Chiranjivi Nepal's signature and the two-deer design continue from 2016, but production moves from De La Rue to China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation. That controlled change makes the pair useful for comparing printing character without confusing it with a new signature variety.
