ThemeCultural Heritage

Orange polymer fields present Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast through Moravian church architecture, turtle window imagery and the festival movement of Mayo Ya.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The obverse centres on the Iglesia Morava in Laguna de Perlas, set within a warm orange field and framed by two turtles in the clear window area. The simulated security thread, tactile elements and large denomination structure give the design a functional polymer character, while the church links the note to Nicaragua’s Caribbean coastal communities.

Reverse

The reverse shows female dancers celebrating Festival Mayo Ya, with Nicaragua’s coat of arms and the turtle window elements integrated into the composition. A dark gold iridescent band with repeated 20 and coral forms adds a security layer to the back, connecting the festive cultural scene with the revised polymer design.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this 2019 revised polymer variety is distinguished from the original 2014-dated type by its tactile accessibility elements and added reverse iridescent band. Its relevance lies in the 18.11.2021 introduction context, Reyes / Acosta signature combination, Oberthur Fiduciaire printing, Guardian polymer substrate, simulated security thread, turtle window and UV-visible activity shown in reference imagery.
