The Chollima Monument drives through a violet specimen whose static format still carries a powerful sense of ascent.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
A woman holding wheat and a man carrying a book ride the winged Chollima above Mansu Hill, framed by Korean text and the national emblem. The violet engraving concentrates attention on the monument’s upward movement. A boxed red Korean specimen overprint and all-zero serial number clearly separate this example from the circulation issue.
Reverse
Guilloches and denomination devices replace the sculptural narrative on the reverse. Their controlled symmetry slows the movement of the face and gives the value a quiet, security-led conclusion.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-62s is the specimen form of the 200-won note dated 2008 and introduced with the November 2009 currency replacement. Its boxed specimen mark and zero serials document a non-circulating form of an otherwise standard denomination. The note also brings the Chollima Monument into the revaluation series, linking familiar state sculpture with a sharply changed monetary system.
