Brown and green engraving carries Oman’s mountain terraces and falaj water into a compact note of renewal and cultivated landscape.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
The obverse is built around the Green Terraces of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, set beneath Arabic text and the Omani coat of arms with crossed swords and khanjar. The crossed swords and khanjar also serve as a registration device, giving the small denomination a strong national centre. Brown, green, yellow and orange tones connect the cultivated mountain scene with the commemorative language of Oman’s modern series.
Reverse
The reverse turns toward Falaj Al Jeela, coconut trees and palm groves, extending the obverse’s mountain terraces into a wider landscape of water management and agricultural life. English text and the 100 Baisa denomination frame the scene, while the faint iridescent 100 and Combifluo security thread add a technical layer without overwhelming the quiet rural composition.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this 100 Baisa note belongs to Oman’s 2020 commemorative series, issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the Modern Omani Renaissance and to honour the memory of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. With the Taimur bin Asaad signature, W/1-W/34 prefix range and Oberthur Fiduciaire production, it represents a carefully defined small-denomination type within Oman’s sixth series. Its coat of arms watermark with electrotype Arabic 100 and Combifluo security thread give the note a refined technical character, while its commemorative context links a modest denomination to one of the most important narratives in modern Omani statehood.
