A boar's curved tusks emerge among shell ornaments, their dark engraving set against the twenty kina's warm red-brown field.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
A red-brown view of Parliament House extends diagonally across the centre, with the national arms above its lower roof. The bank-logo window separates the building from the value at the right. Pale pink underprinting surrounds the decorated entrance and long façade.
Reverse
The boar's head sits within an arrangement of regional ornaments, its long tusks curving around the necklaces and armbands. The group includes Madang cowrie shells, a Central Province Toa armband and Western Province shellwork, engraved in the denomination's red-brown tones.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2024 twenty kina is a regular reduced-size printing, not a return of the anniversary paper issue dated 2008. It follows the 2021 reduced-size type with Genia–Oaeke signatures. The persistent boar-and-shell reverse makes denomination-based comparison possible even when the material, format and commemorative status of neighbouring issues differ substantially.
