Design & Symbolism
Obverse
An ornate rosette holds the value at the centre, surrounded by repeated geometric lines in dark and pale blue. Korean lettering names the Bank of Korea above it. A red seal sits at the right, opposite the small series marking.
Reverse
English lettering places THE BANK OF KOREA along the upper edge, with 10 JEON beneath the central numeral. Interlocking blue trellis patterns fill the surrounding panels. The numeral and rosette repeat the front's ornamental treatment.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, ten jeon is a fractional value, not a ten-won note. It was introduced alongside fifty jeon in December 1962 to supply low-value change after the June currency reform replaced hwan with won. Its modest size records a practical stage of that monetary change, distinct from the larger won-denominated issues.
