Avicenna's portrait faces the historic Hissar Castle on this brown hybrid issue, joining scientific heritage to one of Tajikistan's best-known fortified sites.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Abuali ibn Sino, known internationally as Avicenna, is portrayed beside a snake and flowers in a brown security design. Four concave sixteen-sided devices, the national emblem and the bank-logo registration feature structure the field. A holographic stripe incorporates his portrait, denomination and the emblem, while the colour-changing windowed thread carries the demetalized inscription БМТ 20.

Reverse

Hissar Castle, with its monumental gateway and flanking towers, occupies the centre of the reverse. English and Tajik inscriptions, the bank logo and national flag frame the historic site, while warm brown ornament links it to Avicenna's portrait. The open watermark field contains a second portrait of the scholar and balances the weight of the fortress architecture.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2021 P-25 retains the hybrid design introduced for this denomination in 2018 but carries the later Rahmon and Hikmatullo signature pairing. That makes signatures and prefixes central to separating it from visually similar dates. Avicenna and Hissar Castle also give the note two strong collecting themes within one design: intellectual history on the face and historic fortress architecture on the reverse.
